Safety Information

Last Updated: October 17, 2026

This page provides general safety information about GLP-1 medications offered through the PrescrYbe platform, including both FDA-approved branded medications and compounded formulations. This is general information, not personalized medical advice, and not a consent form.

PrescrYbe is a technology platform, not a medical provider, clinic, or pharmacy. We do not diagnose, treat, or cure any disease or condition, and we do not compound, manufacture, or dispense medication. Clinical services are provided by independent licensed clinical partners, including OpenLoop Health. Where a provider determines a compounded medication is appropriate, it is prepared and shipped by a state-licensed compounding pharmacy partner. Compounded medications are not FDA-approved, and the FDA does not verify their safety, effectiveness, or quality. As an alternative, your provider may instead determine an FDA-approved branded medication is appropriate, in which case you fill that prescription at a pharmacy of your choice — PrescrYbe does not sell, fulfill, or ship branded medications, and their cost is your own responsibility.

Trademarks

Ozempic®, Wegovy®, Saxenda®, and Victoza® are registered trademarks of Novo Nordisk A/S. Zepbound® and Mounjaro® are registered trademarks of Eli Lilly and Company. PrescrYbe is not affiliated with, nor endorsed by, Novo Nordisk or Eli Lilly.

How These Medications Work

GLP-1 receptor agonist medications work by mimicking a hormone that helps regulate appetite, reduce hunger, and increase feelings of fullness; some also act on GIP receptors to support additional aspects of metabolism. When used as part of a program that includes diet and exercise, these medications may support weight management. Individual results vary based on diet, exercise, consistency with treatment, and individual biological factors — no specific outcome is guaranteed.

Tell Your Provider

Share your complete medical history with your provider, including whether you have a personal or family history of:

  • Thyroid cancer, including medullary thyroid carcinoma, or Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2

  • Type 1 or type 2 diabetes

  • Pancreatitis, gallbladder disease, or kidney disease

  • Gastrointestinal disease, including gastroparesis

  • Diabetic retinopathy

  • Depression, suicidal thoughts, or suicidal behavior

  • Known allergy to any GLP-1 or GIP receptor agonist medication

Also tell your provider if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to become pregnant, and list every medication, vitamin, and supplement you take, including oral contraceptives and any upcoming surgery or procedure involving anesthesia. Withholding or providing inaccurate health information in order to obtain treatment may result in harm, including in some cases death.

Possible Side Effects

Common side effects reported with GLP-1 and GLP-1/GIP medications include nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, constipation, abdominal pain, indigestion, bloating, gas, acid reflux, injection-site reactions, fatigue, headache, dizziness, and low blood sugar in people with type 2 diabetes. Individual experiences vary, and this is not a complete list.

Get medical help right away for severe or ongoing stomach pain, vomiting, or diarrhea; yellowing of the skin or eyes; signs of a serious allergic reaction such as swelling of the face or throat or trouble breathing; or symptoms of low blood sugar such as shakiness, sweating, or confusion.

Compounded Medications

Compounded medications are custom-prepared by licensed pharmacies when a commercially available option is not suitable — for example, during an FDA-recognized shortage, for a documented allergy to an inactive ingredient, or when a specific dosage form is medically necessary. They are not FDA-approved and have not undergone the same clinical trials as FDA-approved medications; quality, potency, and inactive ingredients may vary by compounding pharmacy. Report all side effects to your provider promptly, and follow their instructions on dosage and administration.
